Friction in the automobile cover trade designates the chafing or
rubbing between two similar or dissimilar materials coming into contact with each
other while in motion, thereby generating heat. In the seat cover context, reference
is made to the rubbing that a vehicle seat is subjected to every time someone is
getting in or going out of the vehicle. As a matter of fact, the heat generated
due to the rubbing causes surface deterioration of the seat cover.
Pelt in upholstery trade indicates animal skin (tanned or cured)
generally coming from beaver, raccoon, fox or bear that has the animal fur, hair
or wool attached to it. This is often used in vehicle seat cover in place of fur
that is fairly expensive.
Neoprene also called Polychloroprene is mostly used in making ‘wetsuits’,
laptop sleeves, car fan belts, electrical insulations and other such. However Neoprene
is currently being used by Coverking in manufacturing water resistant vehicle seat
covers.
Polyester is a sturdy water resistant material that was first prized
by the disco community during the seventies. Polyester has since then become very
popular and the material is now extensively used in vehicle seat cover making.
Pink Slip is a Yankee slang that stands for a vehicle registration
certificate. Also linked with road racing in which the winner is entitled to claim
the loser’s vehicle provided the Pink Slip also changes hand. Hence the popular
slogan, “Don’t lose the Pink Slip”.
Universal Fit seat covers are those covers that are supposed to
fit any low-back or high-back bucket seat in any car or SUV, irrespective of the
make, model or year of manufacture of the vehicle. Universal Seat covers suit budget
oriented people best since they often ignore minor inadequacies in view of major
price reduction. However when you value quality, you should never opt for a Universal
cover because these covers never offer adequate protection.
UV or Ultra Violet emission denotes the release or radiation of
sun’s ultra violet rays that are not only harmful to human eye and skin, but
are also damaging to the vehicle upholstery. Seat covers and car covers lined with
UV inhibiting material can put a stop to this harmful effect.
